A doula is a person who supports pregnant women and their families during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

This support is on an emotional and logistical level. For example, coaching you through your birth options, and how to best prepare for your desired birth.

Erika Villanueva, your doula, also ensures that your wishes are respected by providing you with all the relevant information regarding the logistics surrounding birth in a hospital or at home, such as informing you on protocols and what equipment is available to you. You would like to be less anxious during your pregnancy? You are looking for support for your birthing choices?

Throughout the process, Erika will help you get the information and clarity you need to make informed decisions. Legally, only you and your partner can speak on your own behalf regarding matters where healthcare decisions are being made.

As your doula, she can discuss your concerns with you, and can suggest options, as well as encourage you to voice your opinions and questions with the clinical staff.
